Alfe's Fernandes Stratocaster Project!

A brand new project! This is gonna be a hard one... The condition of this guitar is T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E. Screws are so corroded that they break at the slightest touch. This is gonna take a bigger drill and more tools. Will also require tons of new parts which I'm still waiting... Alfe, I'm still waiting :P

The first step I took in stripping the guitar.

The condition of the tuners are equally appalling.

Note, these aren't tremolo springs any longer, LOL! Notice the brass in this cavity? Bridge is HOPELESS. Lightest and most useless bridge block I've ever come across. This won't even make a dent on my wooden flooring!

Apparently the previous owners decided to take their Strat out for a walk with the dog.

Neck removed. Strat has a single ply aged pickguard with no bevel edges. Pity rest of the other plastic parts aren't the same color or make. Output jack is totally screwed, literally! The screws holding it down snapped as soon as I touched them. Now, they're sitting in the wood refusing to budge.

Vintage bridge saddles. Quite a pity the tremolo block sucks.

Pickup magents have rusted. Clicky sounding as well.

Date stamp. Made in Japan but I can't figure if the year states 96 or 86!

Output jack cavity. Jackplate was corroded as well. Jackplate screw remains are still visible.

Pickguard screws and neckplate.

Completely stripped and cleaned.

For a vintage reissue, Fernandes really used a vintage 5-way selector switch.

The original neckplate was badly scuffed and abused. This is the ending result after I sanded it down with fine sandpaper for a brushed look. Quite impressive I would say but not enough to hide the deeper scuffs.
